The first 826 chapter, 826 Valencia, opened at 826 Valencia Street in San Francisco in 2002. Founded by author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari, the organization took its name from its original address. Today, there are nine 826 chapters across the country—including Boston. Naturally, we couldn't let August 26 pass without a celebration.

More importantly, your gift helps us provide free writing, tutoring, and publishing programs for nearly 4,000 Boston Public School students.
